🎬 Canva makes “Cavalry” free for everyone

Canva is making Cavalry Pro, the 2D motion design app, completely free for anyone with a Canva account.

The old Starter vs. Pro tier split has been scrapped, and the full £192/year Pro feature set is now included with every free Canva login (alongside Affinity).

Canva acquired Cavalry back in February, following its 2024 Affinity acquisition.

Today's move mirrors the Affinity playbook. Canva made that suite completely free in October 2025, resulting in 5+ million downloads.

🎥 HeyGen open-sources "HyperFrames"

This entire video was created by chatting with AI

HeyGen released HyperFrames, an open-source framework that turns HTML into MP4 video. The team built their own product launch video with it inside Claude Code, and is now sharing the full source for anyone to use.

What's an "agent-native framework"? It's a piece of software designed to be used by AI agents (like Claude or Cursor) instead of written by humans. You describe what you want the video to look like, and the agent uses HyperFrames to build it for you (from a webpage to a finished MP4).

🎨 Maxon brings back "Autograph" for free

Maxon, the company behind Cinema 4D and Redshift, just announced that its 2D motion graphics tool, Autograph, is back and free for individuals.

The drop is part of a wider day of news that also revealed Cinema 4D is coming to iPad.

Note: Cinema 4D for iPad doesn't have a release date yet. Maxon plans to demo it (alongside Autograph and Windows on Arm support) at NAB and OFFF this spring.

Autograph was originally pitched as a serious After Effects competitor when it first launched, before going quiet.

Now it's back, free for individual creators, and rejoining the Maxon family alongside Cinema 4D, Redshift, ZBrush, and Forger.
