TOP STORY
🎬 ByteDance releases “Seedance 2.0”

This week, ByteDance (the parent company of TikTok and CapCut) released "Seedance 2.0," a next-generation AI video model that generates cinematic videos with synchronized sound from text, image, audio, and video inputs.

Seedance 2.0 is being compared to Google's Veo 3 and OpenAI's Sora 2, but with notably stronger motion stability and character consistency — making it capable of producing complex scenes like multi-person sports sequences and action choreography that previous models struggled with.

It's also already stirring up serious legal trouble (more on that below).

Seedance 2.0 is currently available in limited markets, with broader international access expected soon.

With Seedance 2.0, you can now:

  • Generate videos with built-in audio: Create clips with synchronized dialogue, sound effects, and ambient audio (all generated directly from your prompt, no post-production sound design needed).

  • Use multimodal references: Combine text, images, video clips, and audio tracks as inputs to control style, composition, camera movement, and rhythm in your generated videos.

  • Replicate cinematic camera language: Reference existing footage, and the model will match camera paths, transitions, and pacing (think dolly-ins, tracking shots, and match cuts).

  • Maintain character consistency across shots: Keep subjects visually consistent throughout multi-shot sequences, making it viable for serialized content, short films, and brand campaigns.

  • Extend and edit scenes: Build longer narratives by extending initial clips while maintaining visual and audio continuity.

However, the launch has already sparked major backlash.

  • Disney sent ByteDance a cease and desist letter after users generated highly realistic deepfakes featuring copyrighted characters from Star Wars, Marvel, and other Disney properties (with Disney's counsel accusing ByteDance of treating its IP like "free public domain clip art”).

  • The MPA and SAG-AFTRA have also condemned the platform, calling it an attack on creators' rights and demanding that ByteDance cease infringing activity immediately.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
🪄 KREA AI acquires “Wand” app

This week, KREA AI announced the acquisition of Wand, an AI-powered drawing app built for artists on iPhone and iPad — alongside the release of a new dedicated iPad app.

  • Wand was one of the first AI drawing tools designed natively for iOS, letting artists sketch on canvas and have AI interpret and render their drawings in real time.

  • With custom brush engines, style training, and multi-layer support, it became a go-to for illustrators and designers looking to blend hand-drawn work with AI.

By acquiring Wand, Krea is integrating those native drawing capabilities directly into its own platform, giving iPad users access to Krea's full AI creative suite with a native iOS feel.

With Krea iPad, you can now:

  • Sketch with custom brushes: Draw directly on canvas using custom brushes inherited from Wand's engine, with AI rendering your sketches in real time.

  • Access multiple AI models: Generate and edit images using top models like Flux, Ideogram, and Imagen 3 (all from your tablet).

  • Train custom styles: Upload reference images to train a personalized AI model that matches your unique aesthetic, then switch between styles on the fly.

  • Generate and edit videos: Create videos with AI generators like Kling, Hailuo, and Runway, directly from the app.

The app is available now on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Krea offers a free plan with limited daily generations, with paid plans starting at $10/month.

🎧 ElevenLabs releases "Audiobooks”

This week, ElevenLabs released "Audiobooks," a complete toolkit within ElevenCreative that lets users create, refine, and publish studio-quality audiobooks using AI voices, from first draft to published audio.

Traditional audiobook production can cost $5,000–$10,000 per book and take 6–12 weeks. With ElevenLabs Audiobooks, creators can go from manuscript to finished audiobook in minutes, for a fraction of the cost.

With Audiobooks, you can now:

  • Create with one click or full control: Upload an ePub for instant AI narration, or use the Professional Studio for detailed voice direction and scene-by-scene editing.

  • Choose from 10,000+ voices: Select from a massive library of emotionally rich, character-ready AI voices (or clone your own voice in seconds).

  • Add sound effects and music: Layer in ambient sounds, effects, and music to create a fully immersive listening experience.

  • Narrate in 90+ languages: Produce audiobooks in over 90 languages, with each voice crafted to sound natural to native speakers.

  • Publish and distribute instantly: Publish directly to ElevenReader and distribute to major listening platforms like Spotify and InAudio (all without leaving the platform).

ElevenLabs is also offering creators 60% on direct sales through ElevenReader and ~$0.20 per hour streamed, which they say is roughly 2x the industry standard rate, with no exclusivity required.
