DESIGN
🍎 Apple buys “Play,” the award-winning app-design tool

Apple has acquired “Play,” the Apple Design Award–winning tool that let designers build interactive app prototypes and turn them into real, working code — handing it off to engineers ready to ship, instead of a static mockup someone has to rebuild from scratch.

It's an “acqui-hire,” and the app has already been pulled from the App Store, with Apple likely folding the team and tech into its own design tools.

Note: if you were a Play user, the app is no longer available to download. Existing subscribers should check their account for refund or wind-down details.

Why it matters:

  • Real, usable code out of a design tool, not just mockups, made Play a favorite for getting from idea to a shippable app fast.

  • Apple buying design tooling signals it wants tighter, first-party workflows from idea to App Store.

Moda is the AI design agent with taste

Moda's viral launch hit 4.4 million views in two days. Tens of thousands of professionals signed up. Startups, agencies, forward-thinking brands and top firms are now using Moda to create brand-aligned slides, ad creative, reports, social carousels and more.

Most AI tools tend to create what we call "AI slop": repetitions of the same colors, layouts and fonts. And when you try to fix it, you get stuck in a loop of re-prompting.

Moda is different. Drop in your website URL, and Moda learns your brand from the ground up: your colors, your fonts, your visual language. Then it helps you generate pro-quality slides, docs, and marketing assets.

The best part? Every layer is fully editable on a real canvas, and exports to powerpoint, PDF and more.

VIDEO EDITING
🎬 Magnific releases "Plugins" for Premiere Pro, After Effects, and more

Magnific just launched a set of plugins that bring its full AI toolset straight into Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and Final Cut Pro, so you can create without ever leaving your timeline.

Magnific (formerly Freepik) is an AI creative platform for generating, upscaling, and cleaning up images and video.

Note: The Premiere Pro and After Effects plugins run on Mac and Windows. The DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro plugins are Mac-only for now.

Here's what you can do without switching apps:

  • Generate images and video right in the editor.

  • Edit from your own library (upscale, relight, reframe, remove background).

  • Add AI music and voice to your edit.

  • Search and drag in from 250M stock assets.

  • Drop any result straight onto your timeline or into your media pool.

CODING
📱 Cursor releases "Cursor” iOS app

Cursor, the popular AI code editor, just shipped its “first iPhone and iPad app,” letting you build from anywhere by launching always-on cloud agents (or remotely controlling the agents already running on your computer).

In plain terms, it's vibe coding from your phone, you can kick off an AI agent to build or fix something, then check back on it like a chat thread.

Note: The iOS app is in public beta on all paid plans. Composer 2.5 runs are 75% off in the app through July 5.

The launch lands shortly after one of the biggest deals in startup history, SpaceX agreed to acquire Cursor's parent company, Anysphere, in a roughly $60 billion all-stock transaction (expected to close later this year).
